This year federal receipts will be sufficient to cover only mandatory spending on the entitlement programs (Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and interest on the debt). That means that we will be borrowing for all other expenditures of the federal government—from the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, to roads and bridges, to every federal agency. Thursday, February 4th, 2010U.S. Rep. Bob Inglis (R-SC) said Thursday the announcement of the electric bus manufacturer Proterra and its expected 1,300 jobs could be a fire starter for new energy jobs throughout the Upstate tied to CU-ICAR.

Inglis: Budget proposal spends, taxes too much

Bob Inglis (R-SC) said Monday the President missed an opportunity to send the markets and businesses a clear signal that the government was serious about fiscal restraint by proposing a 2011 budget that simply taxes and spends too much, pushing the deficit to a record $1.6 trillion in FY 2010.
“Since coming back to Congress in 2005, I’ve voted for the tightest, most conservative budgets we’ve proposed under both Republican and Democratic administrations, because we must live within our means,” Inglis said of his votes for the Republican Study Committee budgets. (more…)
